What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When a visitor leaves a comment on the website, we collect the data visible in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address, and their browser signature. We need this data to help us detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may also be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact form
If you wish to contact us via the contact form, an email will be sent to us. In order to respond to it, we need your name and email address. The information sent via the contact form is stored by us for customer service purposes for an indefinite period of time, but we do not use the information obtained in this way for marketing purposes.
Course registration and use of the online store
In order to fulfill your order for products or any course purchased on our website, we need a number of your personal data. Therefore, when you browse our website, we will use cookies to track the contents of your shopping cart while you browse our website, and we will collect the following information automatically:
- Products viewed and course offerings: we will use this information to, for example, show you recently viewed products or courses
- Location, IP address, and browser: we will use this data to estimate taxes and shipping costs
- Shipping address: we will ask you to enter your address so that we can estimate shipping costs before you place your order and fulfill your order

Newsletter

Who we share your data with
Your personal data, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the VCA course and exam agreement, will be shared with our partners: SSVV, Het Certificaat, and Examenbureau Rotterdam BV. This includes your initials, last name, and date of birth.
How long do we store your data
If you leave a comment, its content and metadata will be stored indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve subsequent comments automatically, without sending them for moderation each time.
For users who have registered on our website and purchased a VCA course online, we also store the personal information entered in their profile. Every user can view, correct or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username, which cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and modify this information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have a user account or have added comments to this website, you can request to receive an exported file containing all of your personal data that we hold, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Guest comments may be checked using an automated spam detection service. Under the applicable electronic payment agreement, your data is sent in encrypted form to Mollie B.V., based in Amsterdam.
