In this course, you will learn the principles of constructing and operating fiber optic networks of various types that are compatible with different technologies. You will learn how fiber optic cables are built, including the latest types. You will also learn about industry-specific tools. You will learn how to prepare fiber optics for welding and how to weld them. You will also learn how to install them in cabinets, couplers, distribution points, and subscriber connections. Finally, you will build your own fiber optic network in our lab. You will also learn the fundamentals of measuring and repairing optical paths.

This course is designed for anyone who wants to pursue a career in telecommunications. The telecommunications industry is constantly evolving. New fiber optic networks are constantly being laid, and specialists are in constant demand. Fiber optic welding is a highly sought-after profession. During the course, you will acquire the theoretical and practical skills necessary for working with fiber optics. The course lasts two days and consists of theoretical and practical components. Upon completion of the practical exam, you will receive a certificate confirming your skills. The course includes free parking, lunch, and cold and hot drinks.

Day 1: Theoretical Concepts

  • Light in Optoelectronics
  • Structure and types of optical fibers (types and applications)
  • Types of optical fibers (single-mode, multi-mode, zero water-peak, low water- peak)
  • Fiber optic parameters (e.g., transmission speed, attenuation, and dispersion)
  • ITU specifications for optical fibers (G.XXX)
  • Fiber Optic Connectors and Splices (Types and Applications)
  • Fiber optic equipment: cabinets, distribution points, subscriber connections, connection couplers, splitters, patch cords, pigtails, etc.
  • Construction of FTTx optical networks. Theoretical basics of FTTx, WDM, CWDM, and DWDM
  • Fundamentals of optical path measurements (OTDR)
  • Troubleshooting fiber optic paths

Day 2: Practical classes

  • Principles of safely operating fiber optics (laser radiation)
  • Tools and splicers (V-groove, coat, core, ribbon)
  • Construction of an FTTx fiber-optic network in a test environment
  • Preparing fibers for welding
  • Fiber welding (SM/MM) in a test environment
  • Transmission measurements of fiber optic tracks
  • Diagnosis and troubleshooting of fiber optic tracks

We work with fiber optics and equipment from the following leading brands: Commscope, Fujikura, Sumimoto, Inno, Datwyler, and Lucent.
