Starting January 1, 2023, the Labor Inspectorate will impose harsher penalties on employers who fail to properly document the use of hazardous substances in the workplace. Workers injured from inhaling harmful substances may be eligible for up to €22,839 in one-time compensation.
These diseases include lung cancer caused by inhaling asbestos particles, allergic asthma caused by workplace exposure, and psycho-physical disorders caused by prolonged solvent inhalation, known colloquially in the Netherlands as “schildersziekte” (OPS).
Do you suffer from any of these diseases? Or do you know someone who qualifies for compensation? Visit the website of the Institute for Victims of Occupational Diseases Caused by Harmful Substances (ISBG), where you will find detailed information on compensation and related procedures.
